Glitter n Sparkle - challenge 65

...this week is to use your fave digi...
we were given the option of our fave, from:

I haven't been on the design team for Glitter n Sparkle very long,
but I knew straight away - my favourite is this, from Lacy Sunshine.....

...called Emilys windy day.
I just haven't had the time this week, to create a new card
with this image, so I hope you can forgive me for
resubmiting a card I have already shown.
(But I do love this card)
I'm even a bit late in putting up this post!
I guess that's just life, at this time of year -
so much going on!

Thanks for looking and any comments you may leave. x

I would like to enter this into the following challenge -

My special cards...

The ones I made for my Mum & Dad, Sister and her family
and my In-laws.

This is my Mum & Dads card.
its an a5 card, computer generated sentiment,
and I found the image on my pc...have had it years...possibly from pc crafter?
Anyway - I decoupaged some of it, used some
glittery stickles and glossy accents.
The snowflakes come form  Martha Stewart border punch,
which I chopped up separately and added some glitter too.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges...

Shabby tea room - a few of my favourite winter things - 30 Dec

This card was for my sister, her partner and their children.
I chopped a Martha stewart punched snowflake
in half and fit one half, either side of the image,
which is a little glittered and glossy accented!
I found the sentiment on the internet and played about with the fonts,
to get it looking like that.... I can't believe I only finished these 3 cards on Christmas eve!
I won't leave it that late next year!

I would like to enter his into the following challenges -
C is for challenge - modern Christmas - 6 Jan
Crafty Hazlenuts - last minute card - 27 Dec

Finally, I made this card for my In-laws.
I thought the image was sooo cute!

and glittered for a frosty-feel.
(although I don't think you can see this on the pic)

Challenge 63 - my fair lady!

When I got this image, I thought, "I know who I want to make a card with this one, for!"

My sister in law just loves all the old musicals, and with this image being " my fair lady" (by Sassy Studios)
and with her having a christmas birthday... perfect!
(I have just come to the end of  all my christmas cards...finally!)

The challenge was to "use non traditional christmas colours. "
I think these colours look so pretty together -
I paper pieced the dress, hat and umberella...which took aaaages,
and I hope it was worth it! lol..  x

Traditional Christmas colours

...That's what the theme is this week, over at Glitter n Sparkle blog challenge!

I got this lovely floppy Latte image - toy stocking
and I tried to make it look like it was made of velvet...
not sure I did a good job at that! lol! nevermind :)
I used my docrafts brick embossing folder, behind,
inking the edges and the bricks to give them depth.
Finally, I tied a thin green ribbon into a bow to add
to the front of the stocking.

I will be uploading more of my deisgns for my Christmas cards, soon...
I can't believe how busy I have been recently..
and as this is the last week of school, I think this week will be a busy one too!

Winter wishes

This card is for challenge 62 over at Glitter n Sparkle...
"Winter wishes" by stampin chef.

I've had such a mad and busy week,
that this card was VERY last minute!
I ended up using docrafts blue christmas papers and my
memory box snowflake border die, along with the lovely winter wishes image.
I cut some baubles form the remaining bit of paper, to 'hang'
and added a sentiment bauble form craftwork cards.
The image was coloured with my watercolour pencils.

Better late than never...

This is my card for challenge 61 - over at Glitter n Sparkle... add some glitter n sparkle!

I'm a bit late showing this one on my blog... sorry!
It's been a strange (but nice!) weekend...
we had a power cut and so had candles and tea-lights on,
with a little blast from the fire to keep us warm.
It was really lovely, especially when we decided to put the
tree up while we had all candlelight and firelight.
Very lovely!
Anyway - I digress...
This card is made using the reindeer image and sentiment
from QKR Stampede. So cute!
I glittered his antlers, his bells and a teeny bit of glitter on
each snowflake in the background.
The backing papers are docrafts papers.
Thanks for looking and any comments you might leave! x

Another Christmas card - thanks to the challenge blog!

Luckily, over at Glitter n Sparkle, I had another Christmassy challenge... show some snow

I got the image of Mary Sanderson...
She is a witch, in the Hocus Pocus film!
The challenge was to "show some snow" so I (hope) I made her
look quite different.
I embossed the background and added a digi stamp sentiment.
I also found some sparkle varnish in my christmas stash
(which I bought years ago in Canada)
and painted it on the embossed snowflakes, with the teeeniest of paintbrushes!
A little sparkly gem finished off each snowflake
and a length of sheer ribbon, tied along the bottom.

My first Christmas card! (challenge 59 - Glitter n Sparkle)

My card for challenge 59 at Glitter N Sparkle blog... add or make a tag...
and I got a Christmas image - so I thought I'd better bite the bullet!

The cute image is called "Dede - christmas bells" from Bugaboo.
It was a joy to work with...
I added a sentiment...the first one that came to my mind..."jingle those bells!" and printed it off.
I used promakers to colours...inc my gold promarker.
Also, glamour dust was sprinkled on the fur trims of the hat and skirt.
The little presents are a digi image and I quickly handcut the holly for the corner,
Just a simple black line finished off the edge of this card.

A first birthday

Here is a card I made for a friend to give to her friend...

I used a dovecrafts papers, Debbie Mumm digi image,

I have had that one piece of leaf paper in my stash for yonks...
it was a 12 x 12 piece...now I have about 3 x 3 left of it!
(I have got a few cards from that piece over the years)

M-I-L birthday

It was my Mother-in-Laws birthday recently, and I made her this card..

I used some new Marianne dies I got recently...
Both the birdcage and the flourish are lovely to cut
and I really enjoyed making this card with them. I used my Marianne bird too..minus the branch.
The paper is from a HOTP kit that I got from QVC a few years ago...
just love that colour paper!
I drew some faux stitching all around the outside edge,
added some MS punched butterflies and
a few punched flowers.

This card is for my second challenge...over at Glitter n Sparkle...
"add black"

I was given this image to use, Wednesday Sara Addams from Sassy Studios.
I found this really difficult as after I cut the black gingham,
which I knew i wanted to use,
I didn't have a clue what else to do~
I played and played with this image... and eventually decided on this.
I hand-drew the little ribbon... thinking I would put a sentiment on there,
then I couldn't come up with one!  lol!
All in all, I'm not in love with this card, as I am some of my others...
you could say his was a "challenge!"

Monochrome

I made this for someone to give to her ballet teacher...

Its a monochrome card...all in shades of grey and white, with a touch of black.
Sentiment is computer generated, a little white organza ribbon down the side,
with a punched bottom edge and of course...

those Martha Stewart butterflies have flown in, too!  :)

As I told you earlier this week, I have now joined the design team for

I drew on the spiders and bats myself and popped a little digital "scaredy cat" on there, too -
all coloured with watercolour pencils and the ghost has glossy accent all over.
The papers are digital downloads that I have had for ages...
as is the beware sign and the large bat.

Comissioned cards

I have been asked to make a few cards recently.. and here are just some of them...

A card for a nail manicurist....
I am using some of my 12 x 12 papers, as I have sooo many and don't really
 do much scrapbooking now...
so the backing paper is a piece of one of them.
The image is one I have had for yonks... the nail varnish bottle is from a digi kit...added plenty of glossy accents and glitter to the nails and varnish.
Butterflies are punched with my Martha Stewart punch.
I got a fab feedback from this card... the recipient said it was the best card she had ever received!!

I would like to enter this into the following challenges...

Whoopsi Daisy - spots n dots - 20th Oct

I made a card for a friend to give to her friend last year, for the birth of her twins...
now they are turning one and I was asked for another card.
The image is by Debbie Mumm- bought on PC Crafter, years ago!
(Don't think they are around anymore...it's a shame!)
I flipped the image to make another teddy, the same, but facing the opposite way.
One ted is decoupaged and I put G.A on the balloons.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges...
Send a Smile 4 kids - bright colours  - 18th Oct

This one was a hard one!
Looks sooo simple, but took a good while to design and get right -
a commission for my friends son.
Decoupaged banner and badge. Glossy accents used.
Embossed edge and double bordered.

Thanks for browsing my blog and any comments you leave on my cards. x

Mum and Dads Anniversary

This was quite a quick card, once I had had the idea...

I was looking through my paper stash for a paper for this card
and came across this dovecraft paper.
It is part of a wedding set.
I used my cherry lynn flourish in cream, a couple of docrafts paper blossoms
in charcoal., and some Martha Stewart punched butterflies
ontop of the sentiment - which was stamped with a docrafts stamp.
I love that rubber stamp, and I hadn't used it for ages!
A couple of silvery pearls finished the card off!

So, it was a double celebration!

I made this card for the baby - and that's Wellington the teddy in the corner.
I used my new sizzix alphabet die...wingo zingo, for his name.
I have had the gingham paper for yonks..along with about 9 other colours, which I
don't want to use up..I love gingham! (but I think gingham works sooo well for baby cards)

My friend recently had a big birthday...

but she didn't want the world to know and remind her...
so this card I made for her, had her big number on...but little! lol! I LOVE that stamp - it was a freebie on a card-making mag earlier this year.
This is the first time I have used it...
and I paper-pieced each slat on each house.
I used some lovely pastel docrafts papers.
(and I had to add some butterflies to this card.)
I spent a long time on this card and loved every minute.
She's worth it ;)

Comissions for ladies...

Wow! Didn't realise it had been so long since I last blogged!

It's been a busy time, and the summer hols are almost over! Boo hoo!!!  ;(
So, I thought I would get myself into gear and show a few more of my cards.
The first one is for a friend, to give to her friend, for her birthday.
I have had the image for ages... sorry, can't remember where it's from.
I matted it onto my minds eye paper,
added some MS punched butterflies and
a couple of co-ordinating paper flowers at the bottom.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:

This card is A4 - for a friends Mum, or Mam, as she wanted.
The brief was... "She likes bags and flowers. "
So, she got a bag and a flower...in my fave colours!
Glossy accents plays well on this card...on the sunflower middle and

MS punched butterflies again - that's a firm favourite!

Those dreaded cards...cards for men/ boys!

I was recently asked to make some cards for
some males... music, sport & graduation.

First up, is the music card...for Lewis.
I decoupaged the ipod and used glossy accents on the window and button.
The music and the microphone were images on my pc that I have had for ages.
The backing paper is a sticky paper that I love...bought it
years ago, in Paperchase.
It's covered in music stuff...drawings of guitars, hifis, stereos, headphones, allsorts!
A bit of dry embossing round the edges finished this.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:
Make it Monday - 151 - anything goes (ends 4th August)

 Good ol' wrapping paper again!
Can't believe I have only just thought of buying it to use on my cards!
Think this one cost me 20p for the sheet...and I could prob make about 10 cards from it!
I backed all the pieces on card to give them more strength, then decoupaged the balls,
so that they stand out from the page.
I twiddled about on the pc to make the sentiment on the blue square.
I'm quite pleased with this one!

I would like to enter this into the following challenges...
Pile it on - 30 - anything goes (ends 3rd August)

Finally, this one was made using some of my pc images, and backing paper.
I decoupaged the scroll and balloon
and tried to make sure the sentiment looked like it could be handwriting.
I was asked to add something to do with music.. and as a final thing,
I popped on a brad in the shape of a camera.

Birthday cards for Mum and Dad

I made cards for both Mum and Dad recently, for their birthdays...

This first one is for Dad.
He loves his sweets... esp the retro ones.
I fell in love with these images when I found them on a piece of wrapping paper!
Infact, I got about 40 images on the wrapping paper...
all jars of sweets, inc: wine gums, humbugs, mint imperials,
aniseed balls, sherbet lemons, parma violets...  all with glitter here n there!
I used my new bargain punch (£1 at a boot sale)
to make the shelves..and used a  (candy-striped) DCWV paper for backing.
I decoupaged some of the tags / labels and added glossy accents to some
of the sweets.
Dad loved it!  x

I would like to enter this into the following challenges...
Inky chicks - 9 - summer colours (ends 3rd August)
Craftin desert divas - 11 - birthdays (ends 4th August)

Mum loves her kitchen and all things american...
and I knew as soon as I saw this image - that she would love it.
I have had it quite a while...think I got it on PC Crafter website.
I decoupaged lots of the bits on the shelf and added some glossy accents to some.
I found a poem that I thought she would like, too.
A bit of red ribbon down the side, and
backed on red gingham... it went down a treat!

Birthday girls (comissions)

I was asked for two cards...one for a real pink / purple girly girl,
and the other for a girl... but not girlie colours.

This was the pink / purple one.
I used a docrafts paper and decoupaged some of the images,
using glitter on some parts too.
I made the sentiment in publisher, then diecut the shape on my bigshot.
A couple of martha stewart butterflies, a ribbon and a bit of embossing round the edge,
finished this card off.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges...

It's Wedding season!

I have had a few wedding commissions recently...

I was asked to make a card with the wedding colours...silver and fushia pink.
I think the image is stampin bella...but don't quote me on that.
(I found this one image in my stash as I was searching through.)
Sentiments printed directly onto card.
Embossed hearts background done on my bigshot.
Coloured in in promarkers.
Silver ribbon leftover from a box of chocs, I think!
Martha Stewart punched butterflies.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges...
Crafting with dragonflies - 7 - wedding card (ends 7th August)
Di's digi stamp challenge - wedding/anniversary/congrats (ends 3rd August)

I was asked to make this card (and the one below) on July 4th...
the wedding was on July 5th! Lol!
I designed a sentiment, cut it on my bigshot, printed out a paper from
"funky fairies" - sadly, no longer online.
Added a couple of MS butterflies and a little heart buckle and ribbon.
(Had just bought the buckle the day before... never used one before, but loved the look of this.)
Inked and embossed round the edge of the purple paper, to finish.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges...
Paper playtime - 15 - use patterned paper (ends 4th August)
Eclectic ellapu -shades of purple, with butterfly. (ends 28th July)

Yet another docrafts paper was used for the backing of this card..
I like the confetti look of the paper.
I drew and cut the main shape myself..and printed the sentiment
and pink petticoat image directly onto it.
I edged the shape with yellow chalk
and another little heart buckle, threaded with ribbon.
Woodware punched butterflies in gold, finish off this card.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges...
Glitter n sparkle - 42 - weddings (ends 28th July)
Little claires - 35 - wedding (ends 16th August)

Wedding card

Thought I would share a card I made recently, for a commission from a friend...

I was asked to make a card for her friends...who had been
cycling together around Madagascar!
I really thought that was worth including in the card.
I have had this digi image a while...sorry-I don't know where it's from.
I used a pink petticoat digi paper behind it,
as that was the blue they had used on the invitations they sent out.
I did the sentiment on the pc..  and added some pearls and liquid pearls.
The diecut came from a friend.
The ribbon was from my stash ... think I bought it in Abakhan - yonks ago! :)

Fathers Day

I made this recently for my Dad - for fathers day.
I knew what I wanted to do with this (freebie) stamp, as soon as I saw it!
I have stamped the image onto a chalked background:
I used a cotton wool ball and some dovecraft chalks, which I have had FOREVER! :)
I embossed around the image, onto kraft card, then added a stamped deckchair...
which also came on the freebie stamp set.

I made this card in a very similar way -
this was a commission for a friend, for her children to give to their dad.
My friend has just had a baby, so I had to play about and jiggle to size this pram so that
it would fit perfectly with the freebie stamp I had.
I made the sentiment on the computer, as she specifically wanted
the word "Daddy" on there.
This card is also a lot taller and slimmer than the first card I made (above).
