Card for a male - or a female!

As soon as I saw this image, I knew which "backing paper" I wanted to add to it...

Over at Glitter n Sparkle, this weeks challenge is "bright and funky colours."
It was difficult to make the image any brighter than I did, but I added a page from an old
AA map behind the image, and a green border...that is slightly pearlised.
I thought - if I was to make this again, I would seek out a page that would fit with where
the recipient lives or is moving to.
I added some jute twine to keep it quite neutral...so could be a card for a male or a female.
The sentiment comes from "pink petticoat".
The image is "atlas and globe" from Sentimental Susan.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges...

One for a man...

I made this recently, for a friend who is a head teacher...
Its half term at the o, and I think he could definitely do with a rest!

I used promarkers to colour this Bugaboo image
and tried to keep in with the colours of the childrens school uniform.
The backing paper is from a paper stack I bought last week at the range (for £2 !!)
I embossed the edge of the image - wanted to keep this card CAS.
The sentiment is from craftwork cards.

A friends daughters 18th

I was asked to make a card for a friends daughters birthday.
I saw a pic of the cake she is getting, and based the card on the cake.

The cake is fushia and black in colour...with a shoe on the top.
This shoe actually comes from a piece of wrapping paper!
I backed it on card to give it some strength.
The fushia papers are form pink petticoat - and are "bubblegum" colour.
The flowers are dovecraft blooms.
I generated the sentiment straight onto the card, with my pc.
A few gems and MS butterflies finished the card off.
My friend almost cried (with joy!) when she saw the card -
she was so impressed I had remembered what
the cake looked like, and made this in the same colours.
Phew!

I used my watercolour pencils to colour it subtley,
handcut the corners, inked and added "studs" with a brown pen.
The cacti is a digi image and the fab gingham papers came free with a magazine a loooong time ago!

Valentines...

This weeks challenge, over at Glitter n Sparkle, is...
"Use RED!"
a great challenge, so close to valentines day!

The image I got is this one...  from Bugaboo.
(The sentiment comes with the image too, I drew a little frame around it, too look like the letter has just been taken out of the envelope.)
I didn't want to make this too girly...
so used a backing paper from the docrafts "ahoy" papers.
I punched the hearts and added some faux stitching around them,
aswell as faux stitching around the edges.
Image coloured with promarkers.

Buttons...

Here's Jenna - from the Stamping Chef - who is the image on my "add buttons"
card for Glitter n Sparkle, this week.

I coloured her with promarkers
and watercolour pencils, added a docrafts flower, with a button centre,
a craftwork cards handbag sentiment -
and some little teeny digi images, to go with the sentiment...all about shopping!
Extra buttons in the corners finished this card,
along with the faux stitching around the edges of the card, backing paper and image.

Bling it up!

I'm not realy a "bling " person,
but over at Glitter n sparkle ... that is this weeks challenge -
and I hope I rose to the challenge! x

I got this cute rag doll with a quilt image from QKR Stampede
and immediately saw red gingham paper with it!
I used kraft card and embossed the edge.
I used a martha stewart punched lacy border along the bottom...and LOTS of bling!
(the gems in the senterof the hearts, the dolls dress is coloured with a red glittery pen,
the white border had a little glittery-blingy border just below the top,
with a teeny bling flower to the left hand side.
Oh, and there's a little red bling gem on each of the white flower centres.)
I finished off, with a little black faux stitching around the red gingham edge.
Also, 2 Martha Stewart punched butterflies...made with a slightly sparkly card.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges....

I'm quite pleased with how this one came out...
this was a bit last minute.
I used a digi paper (which, I hope, resembles bubbles / water)
and this cute image from QKR Stampede.
I handcut the circles - and the matting around them...it took a while!
and free hand cut the little silver bubbles.
The image is coloured with a mix of watercolour pencils and promarkers....
I love using both.
Finally, I added a ribbon along the punched white border.

Something a bit different for me...

Over at Glitter n Sparkle this week,  the challenge is to use real or faux stitching.
I got this fab image to play with, from Sassy Studios...called Army Honey.

The backing papers are all digi papers I have had a loong time.
(The flower is digi too!)
I've never had the chance to use it before, but knew it would be just right for with this image.
The thing that took the longest about this card, was
deciding which sentiment I would have on it.
I knew it wasn't going to be a regular birthday card, and wanted
something a bit different...and to fit with the image.
The flower is decoupaged with a little glossy accents and
Sassy's helmet, vest and pants are paper pieced.
Her skin tones and boots coloured with promarkers and her
hair is coloured with watercolour pencils.
I drew on the faux stitching.

I would like to enter this into the following challneges...

and was delighted when i realised i had won a top 3 spot
and a voucher for some of di's gorgeous images!
Thank Di!!!
One of my first choices was this little darlin' ...
'Sprinkles'
As soon as I saw him, I knew he would be loved by my friend Helen,
whose birthday is in a few weeks time.
I p[rinted him straight onto the card before colouring him in my watercolour pencils and
the balloon is smothered in glossy accents.

Mermaid couple

This weeks challenge, at Glitter n Sparkle - is a BINGO challenge...
Look at the bingo board on the blog and pick a line...
I picked the .. "diecut / digi image / buttons"  line.

My image this week, was 'Mermaid couple' from Stitchy stamps.
I loved playing with this image!
I used my watercolour pencils to colour the image and
added a few extra (hand cut out) bubbles and a little splash!
I used a dovecrafts die to cut the shape round the image, then
my fanciful flourish die for the swirls.
The 'seaweed' is punched with a Martha Stewart punch.
I rooted around in my stash to find some papers in the colour I wanted...
and came up with these papers. ( My fave colour at the mo...
I recently decorated one of my craft room walls is this colour!!)
I think these were the first 12 x 12 papers I bought!
Docrafts papers, but I can't remember the name of them.
The buttons are also form the docrafts range.
I chose not to put a sentiment on this card  -
I couldn't quite decide what to put!  :)

Such a gorgeous image - I made 2!!

Well, I got this adorable image from Digi Darla for the Glitter N Sparkle challenge (66) this week...
(anything goes!) and I was so inspired by it, I made 2 cards!

So, for the first card, I immediately hunted through my papers to find something
with red flowers on - I wanted red flowers! Could I find anything? NO!
Typical!
So, I took a dovecrafts backing paper...from the "tea party" set (I think)
and I used my red promarker to colour all the little pink flowers, red! Hurrah! :)
I was really pleased with how it came out.
I coloured the image with my watercolour pencils
and added a sentiment form Pink Petticoat - "simply delightful" range.
I added a little glitter to all the daisies on the backing paper
and some MS punched butterflies...think they are becoming my signature! :)

A Christmas wedding - and a first christmas together!

I had the honour of attending a Christmas wedding last week...

...and it looked stunning!
The Christmas tree with all its twinkling lights,
looked beautiful at the front of the church -
even though the branches of the trees outside, were rapping on the church windows,
on the windiest day of the year! :)
I used my new(ish) docrafts embossing folder, which is my fave at the mo!
Computer generated sentiment.
Martha Stewart punched butterflies and snowflakes.
Organza ribbon with heart buckle.
(and a bit of glittering, here and there!)

I would like to enter this into the following challenges...

I was commissioned to make this card, for the daughter of a friend at work.
Amy and Tom were to have their first Christmas together, as a couple,
and so Amy wanted a really special card - and asked me to make it!
What a compliment! :)
I used my new fave embossing folder again
and some digi images, which I have had for yonks (and don't use as often as I should!)
grouped together, some straight onto the card and some on foam pads
(behind these, I placed a Martha Stewart punched snowflake).
I handcut the holly , which hangs from the ribbon.
A bit of glitter and glossy accents here and there, finished this card.
Amy was thrilled...Tom too, I believe! xx

we were given the option of our fave, from:

I haven't been on the design team for Glitter n Sparkle very long,
but I knew straight away - my favourite is this, from Lacy Sunshine.....

...called Emilys windy day.
I just haven't had the time this week, to create a new card

resubmiting a card I have already shown.
(But I do love this card)

The ones I made for my Mum & Dad, Sister and her family
and my In-laws.

This is my Mum & Dads card.
its an a5 card, computer generated sentiment,
and I found the image on my pc...have had it years...possibly from pc crafter?
Anyway - I decoupaged some of it, used some
glittery stickles and glossy accents.

and with her having a christmas birthday... perfect!
(I have just come to the end of  all my christmas cards...finally!)

The challenge was to "use non traditional christmas colours. "

Traditional Christmas colours

...That's what the theme is this week, over at Glitter n Sparkle blog challenge!

I got this lovely floppy Latte image - toy stocking
and I tried to make it look like it was made of velvet...
not sure I did a good job at that! lol! nevermind :)
I used my docrafts brick embossing folder, behind,
inking the edges and the bricks to give them depth.
Finally, I tied a thin green ribbon into a bow to add
to the front of the stocking.

I will be uploading more of my deisgns for my Christmas cards, soon...
I can't believe how busy I have been recently..
and as this is the last week of school, I think this week will be a busy one too!

Winter wishes

This card is for challenge 62 over at Glitter n Sparkle...
"Winter wishes" by stampin chef.

I've had such a mad and busy week,
that this card was VERY last minute!
I ended up using docrafts blue christmas papers and my
memory box snowflake border die, along with the lovely winter wishes image.
I cut some baubles form the remaining bit of paper, to 'hang'
and added a sentiment bauble form craftwork cards.
The image was coloured with my watercolour pencils.

Better late than never...

This is my card for challenge 61 - over at Glitter n Sparkle... add some glitter n sparkle!

I'm a bit late showing this one on my blog... sorry!
It's been a strange (but nice!) weekend...
we had a power cut and so had candles and tea-lights on,
with a little blast from the fire to keep us warm.
It was really lovely, especially when we decided to put the
tree up while we had all candlelight and firelight.
Very lovely!
Anyway - I digress...
This card is made using the reindeer image and sentiment
from QKR Stampede. So cute!
I glittered his antlers, his bells and a teeny bit of glitter on
each snowflake in the background.
The backing papers are docrafts papers.
Thanks for looking and any comments you might leave! x

Another Christmas card - thanks to the challenge blog!

Luckily, over at Glitter n Sparkle, I had another Christmassy challenge... show some snow

I got the image of Mary Sanderson...
She is a witch, in the Hocus Pocus film!
The challenge was to "show some snow" so I (hope) I made her
look quite different.
I embossed the background and added a digi stamp sentiment.
I also found some sparkle varnish in my christmas stash
(which I bought years ago in Canada)
and painted it on the embossed snowflakes, with the teeeniest of paintbrushes!
A little sparkly gem finished off each snowflake
and a length of sheer ribbon, tied along the bottom.
